The Southdown Road venue is working alongside Harpenden Town Council and the mayor’s nominated charities – Rennie Grove Hospice Care, The Harpenden Hopper and MacMillan Cancer Support – on two charity events.

On Friday, February 9, Welcome to the Sticks (Bienvenue chez les Ch’tis) (12A) will be shown in aid of MacMillan Cancer Support.

The subtitled film is a light-hearted tale of French postman, Philippe, whose plans to cheer up his wife by securing a new job in a coveted south of France location don’t go quite to plan.

The movie starts at 7.30pm and tickets cost £10, with the price including a glass of wine and nibbles before the film.

Those mischievous yellow Minions will be doing their bit for Rennie Grove Hospice Care and The Harpenden Hopper the following afternoon when Despicable Me 3 (U) is screened on Saturday, February 10 at 3pm.

Everyone’s favorite reformed super-villain Gru (Steve Carell) returns for more adventures with Lucy (Kristin Wiig), their daughters, and the lovably zany minions.

The Minions hope that Gru will return to a life of crime after the new boss of the Anti-Villain League fires him.

Instead, Gru decides to remain retired and travel to Freedonia to meet his long-lost twin brother for the first time.

The reunited siblings soon find themselves in an uneasy alliance to take down the elusive Balthazar Bratt, a former 1980s child star who seeks revenge against the world.

Tickets cost £5.

Proceeds from both film screenings will help raise much-needed funds for fantastic charities who deliver invaluable support to people in need in the Harpenden area.
