IRISH band Missing the Ferry are headlining a themed night at a St Albans church hall next Saturday, February 26.
Comprising three brothers and a friend who rehearse in the garage of their family home in Redbourn, Missing the Ferry are appearing at SS Alban and Stephen in Beaconsfield Road.
They comprise Chris, Kevin and Paul Anderson who are joined by friend Kevin Cunningham and play songs from The Pogues, Dubliners and Saw Doctors as well as some of their own creations.
One of those is Under the Roscommon Sun about their mother Roseanna’s birth town and the experience of second generation Irish people in England.
The Irish night will raise funds to help Chris and another friend, Barry O’Sullivan, to cycle 514 miles from Chartres to Lourdes in France. They are raising money for the charity hcpt which sends children and adults with disabilities on holiday each Easter.
The gig begins at 8pm and entry is �5 on the door. The evening will also include other music, a quiz, raffle and bar.
Missing the Ferry are also playing at The Farmers Boy in St Albans on St Patrick’s Day on March 17.
