CELEBRATED Willy Russell play Blood Brothers will be performed by youth musical theatre production company RARE Productions in St Albans next Saturday, December 15.

It is RARE’s first non-musical production and will be performed at the Sandpit Theatre on The Ridgeway, Marshalswick.

The better known musical version of Blood Brothers has recently closed in London’s West End after a record-breaking 24 year run.

Originally written as a school play in 1982, the story concerns the Johnstone twins who were separated at birth with one being put up for adoption. Their lives follow hugely different paths, one privileged and the other descending into a life of crime and imprisonment.

They had become unlikely friends as teenagers before drifting apart, and only some years later meeting up again and ultimately discovering their true relationship, with tragic consequences.

The play is directed by RARE founding partner Andrew Burton and will be performed by the interns of RARE Productions, four talented young people who are furthering their experience and knowledge in all aspects of the theatre on a 12 month internship prior to going on to drama college and hopefully a career in the performing arts.

Performances will be at 3pm and 7.30pm and tickets are 7.50 with concessions 5.
