BBC Young Musician of the Year finalist, Julian Trevelyan, is performing an evening piano recital next Thursday, July 10.

Julian, the youngest finalist in the piano category of the popular competition, will be playing two of Beethoven’s sonatas, including the popular Moonlight Sonata, the second book of Preludes by Debussy and Chopin’s ‘Heroic’ Polonaise.

Earlier this year, Julian took part in the BBC Young Musician 2014 competition, where he was the youngest finalist in the piano category. His competition performances can still be viewed on the BBC website.

Fifteen-year old Julian lives in St Albans and was a chorister in the Cathedral Choir. This year he has performed piano concertos by Grieg and Bartok (no. 3) and has given many recitals, including one in nearby Walden Bury, and in MOOT festival in Brighton.

The recital in St Saviour’s Church, Sandpit Lane, starts at 7.30pm. Entry is free and there will be a retiring collection.
