FOUR local unsigned bands are going all out for stardom next Friday, January 25, when they try to secure a place in a music final.

The Phantom Jack, Magna Saga, Fugazirum and The Raid are playing at The Horn in Victoria Street, St Albans, in a bid to make the Red Stripe Music Award (RSMA) final.

Each band will have just a few songs to prove they deserve the coveted place in the final in May and the exposure that comes from slots at major festivals and a tour bus up for grabs.

The St Albans gig is one of more than 50 taking place throughout the UK and last year's winners were The Runners who played their heat at The Horn.

They have since played live sessions on Steve Lamacq's Radio One show, played at two major festivals, released their first single and are on their way to becoming the UK's next big guitar band.

Further details are available at www.redstripe.net and tickets for the St Albans gig are available from The Horn or on the door.
