An award-winning pianist will be playing Herts Jazz Club this Sunday (31).

John Donaldson started his career as a member of the Cambridge Modern Jazz Club in 1978. He has since become one of the leading musicians on the British jazz scene, having worked with numerous artists including American giant Freddie Hubbard.

He won an award for his distinctive style in the piano category at the 2006 British Jazz Awards.

The gig, at the Hawthorne Theatre in Welwyn Garden City, begins at 7.30pm. Bassist Simon Thorpe and drummer Matt Home will be performing alongside John on the night.
