A SELL-OUT gang show was performed in Harpenden by more than 150 talented Cubs, Scouts and Explorers.

The audience for the 59th Harpenden and Wheathampstead Gang Show were treated to five show-stopping performances and the usual mix of variety that included Rock the Casbah with its stunning Arabian costumes and authentic belly-dancing, Come Fly With Me with a tap-dancing routine by the Explorer Scout "Front Row" boys and a modern take on Aesop's The Hare and the Tortoise, based around the London Marathon and performed by the Cubs.

Producer and musical director Ewan Murray praised the gang for their hard work and dedication since rehearsals began last September and highlighted the importance of the Scouting movement in today's society.

The Harpenden and Wheathampstead Gang Show is one of the longest running in the country. Plans are already in place for next year's show - the Diamond Anniversary - ready to launch the show firmly into the future with a nod to what happened in the past when members of the original 1949 gang once again tread the boards.
