Over 80 exhibitors are showing their work in the annual St Albans Art Society exhibition which is being held in the old Town Hall this week.

Members have produced nearly 250 exhibits including a selection of work depicting the cathedral and other areas of the St Albans district, together with landscapes, nudes, still life and some abstract works.

There is also a display of a sombre scene of a battlefield in Ypres where several local soldiers lost their lives.

St Albans Mayor, Cllr Geoff Harrison, presented the top prizes at the private view last week. Among the winners was Bronwen Shinn for Urban Night, which won best in show, Pip Cullingford for Entrance Cunningham Avenue, the winner of the St Albans Trophy and David Satchell for Blue Sky Portrait, which won the Challenge Trophy.

The exhibition, which runs until Saturday (26), is free to enter and is open from 10am to 6pm daily. Many of the exhibits are for sale.
