A CHURCH clock could be ticking again if a charity concert can raise enough funds for it to be repaired.

The clock at St Leonard's Church, Sandridge, has been at a standstill since a recent power cut in the village and the repairs to the historic timepiece, which is older than the tower that holds it, are likely to be costly.

It's hoped that the retiring collection following a concert by musicians the Barnet Baroque Blowers on Friday of next week (October 30) could help to raise the all-important funds to get the clock from 1842 going again.

It will also help towards raising the money for repairs to the roof of the church, which was targeted by thieves for lead last week.

The group are led by oboist Malcolm Messiter, the son of Ian Messiter who created the popular radio show Just a Minute.

Starting at 7.30pm, the concert will feature a surprise programme of items and will include an interval for refreshments. Admission is free and no booking is required.
