TALENTED Canadian emigre Tom Slade performs at the Alban Arena next week on an extended leg of his nationwide tour.

Following performances on BBC One’s Live At The Apollo, Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow and Channel 4’s Stand-Up For The Week, he is appearing at 8pm next Thursday, June 28.

It was in the late 1980s when lead singer Kaaren Ragland founded The Sounds Of The Supremes who are performing at the Arena from 7.30pm next Friday, June 29.

Featuring more than 20 hit songs, the three American women replicate the frenetic style and sound of the original line-up.

Kaaren is joined by Kathy Merrick and Althea Burkhalter for the show and tickets are �20 and �18.50.

Singers from two local schools join the Adoramus Choir and Orchestra when they appear at 7.30pm at the Arena next Saturday, June 30.

The choirs from Beaumont and St Albans High Schools join Adoramus in St Albans Celebrates the Jubilee.

An Enfield-based Christian Choir and Orchestra, Adoramus was formed in 1996 and has performed many times at the Arena, frequently to sell-out audiences. They have also performed on BBC Radio 4, recorded for Premier Radio, made five CDs, toured Northern Italy and Normandy and given numerous concerts in London and across the south-east.

The programme will include great music associated with the Queen’s reign such as Parry’s I Was Glad, Elgar’s Pomp & Circumstance, Henry Wood’s Sea Songs, Robert Farnon’s Derby Day, and Handel’s Zadok the Priest.

Compere David Buckley will talk about the background to a Jubilee and there will also be a foyer display from the St Albans Historical Society.

Next up is Moonrise Kingdom starring Bruce Willis at 8pm on Tuesday, June 26, and 5pm on Wednesday, June 27. Set on an island off the coast of New England in the 1960s, a young boy and girl fall in love and run away together. Various factions of the town mobilise to search for them and lives are turned upside down as a result.

How I Spent My Summer Vacation screens at 8pm on Wednesday, June 27, and 8pm on Tuesday, July 3.

It stars Mel Gibson as Driver who is apprehended by the Mexican authorities and sent to a hard-core prison where he enters the strange and dangerous world of El Pueblito.

Tickets for films matinees are �5 and for evenings are �7 or �5 for concessions.
