A NIGHT at the Opera would normally be found at Covent Garden but next weekend, it’s as close as the Harpenden High Street Methodist Church.
At 7.30pm next Saturday, March 23, Harpenden Choral Society, accompanied by The King’s Sinfonietta, will be putting on a gala evening of some of opera’s best-loved choruses.
Under the musical direction of award-winning conductor John Andrews, the concert showcases the talents of soloists, including tenor Shaun Dixon, soprano Julie Unwin, mezzo-soprano Olivia Ray, and baritone James Cleverton.
It will feature highlights from Bizet, Mozart, Verdi, Rossini, Tchaikovsky and Mascagni ranging from Carmen to Cavalleria Rusticana and Idomeneo to Eugene Onegin.
Tickets are £13 for adults, £3 for children and students, available from Creature Comforts, Vaughan Road, Harpenden, at the door on the night, or from box office manager, Tricia Beavis on 01582 419 379. Alternatively, book online through the website www.harpendenchoralsociety.org
