Staff and students at Sir John Lawes School in Harpenden are looking forward to the school's fourth Reunion Concert on Friday, April 3.
Previous concerts since 1999 have each seen the return of more than 40 former students to play and sing alongside current students in the Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble and school choir, and this year that number is set to be even higher.
As well as providing a fun get-together for former students and staff, the events have proved inspiring for younger performers at the school. The increasing number of ex-students who return gives an indication of the loyalty they have to the school and of their continued love of music. In addition, many of them have gone on to successful careers in music as teachers or performers.
Among the professional musicians performing this year will be Annabel Williams, who sings regularly with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra at Ronnie Scotts in London and who has shared the stage with stars such as Cleo Laine, and Lully Bathurst who plays bassoon in the world-famous Hall Orchestra.
The concert which is being held at St Mary's Church, Luton, starts at 7.30pm. The programme combines a mix of jazz and classical music with some well-known musical hits. To obtain tickets, priced at 8 for adults, 5.50 for concessions, please email musicreunion@ sjl.herts.sch.uk
