A MODERN slant on an Elizabethan story is being performed by students of a St Albans school this week.
Souled, which is being performed at Nichols Breakspear School in Colney Heath Lane tonight, tomorrow and Saturday, is based upon Christopher Marlowe's classic play.
It follows the story of Jonathan Faust as he sells his soul to the devil in return for all his heart's desires.
Faust believes he has the whole of his life to enjoy his new-found powers but he has unwittingly signed a contract that says the devil may claim his soul earlier should he commit the seven deadly sins.
Written by assistant head, Stuart Borrill, the new version brings a modern take to the classic play, adding contemporary music and a range of creepy, devilish characters as well as a good smattering of comedy caricatures.
More than 50 students and staff have been working on the production since September and tickets are 6 for adults and 4 concessions, available from the school.
