OUR sixth formers at a Harpenden school have had their work hung in an exhibition in Bosnia.
The quartet from St George's School - Sarah Gibbs, Lydia Greenway, Naomi Leatham and Louisa Cody, all aged 17 - submitted paintings which have been despatched to Bosnia under arrangements made by Save the Children Fund (SCF).
The 4ft x 4ft paintings reveal what they considered to be the rights of young people everywhere - that children have the right to be children, to have friendships, to inherit a cared-for environment and to practice their own religion.
The four students are all studying A-level art at the Sun Lane secondary school and were keen to submit their paintings for the school which has seen its historic link with SCF marked by a recent visit from its president, Princess Anne.
Head of Art Rory Browne described how the Princess Royal had spent some time discussing the paintings and the work of SCF in Europe when she visited the school.
And head teacher Norman Hoare commented: "It's a tremendous honour for our students to represent the country at an international exhibition - I only wish the girls could be there to talk about the messages they are conveying in their paintings.
