THERE will be Much Ado when The Pantaloons bring their fast-paced production of the Shakespeare play to Shenley Park for the first time this month.

With a cast of just five actors, they will be using audience interaction, contemporary references, slapstick and original live music for the performance of Much Ado About Nothing at 7pm next Friday, July 30.

Formed in 2004, The Pantaloons aim to bring a genuinely traditional element to Shakespeare’s work, making it accessible to people of all ages without dumbing down.

To date they have tackled such classics as Romeo and Juliet, Cymbeline, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Taming of the Shrew and Twelfth Night.

Caitlin Storey, who has toured with the company since the beginning, said: “Our style is accessible for everyone: from little children who enjoy the bright colours and puppets to teenagers who discover a fun new way to approach Shakespeare studies; from people who have never seen a Shakespeare production before to die-hard Shakespeare fans who get all the inter-textual jokes.”

Members of the audience are encouraged to bring a picnic and something to sit on. For full details and to book tickets go to the website www.thepantaloons.co.uk
