Hollywood Dreams - a comedy about the dawn of the ‘talkies’ - is being performed by St Albans-based drama school Theatrix in the Abbey Theatre Studio this weekend.
Three New York vaudeville artistes down on their luck spot a business opportunity in Hollywood – teaching the silent movie stars to “elocute”.
But to achieve their dream they have to ride the nightmarish rollercoaster of big studio politics - massaging the monstrous egos and indulging the whims of the producer and director.
And then there’s the talentless starlet and her pushy mother, not to mention the studio receptionist from hell.
Hollywood Dreams is being performed at 3pm this Saturday and at 3pm and 8pm this Sunday. Seating is unreserved and tickets are available here, or by emailing admin@theatrix.co.uk, or via telephone 01727 860217.
