One of the world’s greatest classical ballets is being performed by the Vienna Festival Ballet Company on the stage of the Radlett Centre next Saturday, May 14, The company, whose previous performances include The Nutcracker, The Sleeping Beauty and Snow White, is performing Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake.
The story centres on Prince Siegfried who, while out hunting, meets with a flock of swans led by a Queen Swan who is under the evil spell of a magician Baron Rothbart. He falls in love with the Queen of the Swans and tries to free them all- but the magician has a few tricks up his sleeve.
The production offers specially-designed costumes and sets which project colour and vitality.
