Nearly a year after the death of much-loved local musician Pete Waters, a music event in his memory is being held next Sunday, June 12.
An open invitation has been issued to the gathering at The Garibaldi in Albert Street, St Albans, from 4pm onwards.
Local musicians, friends and followers of the popular performer, songwriter and charity fundraiser will be remembering him through music and stories.
Pete died last June at the age of 57 following treatment for cancer. He lived in St Albans most of his life although his parents came from ireland.
A familiar face on the local music scene, he formed his best-known band, The Plastic Paddys in the early 1990s, touring extensively in the UK and the east coast of the US.
In 2007 he released an album of his own songs which he showcased locally and teamed up with veteran musican Wild Willy Barrett to perform gigs both in the UK and abroad.
Pete was a prolific songwriter, singer and musican who travelled to Thailand and India in his later years where he taught English. When he returned to St Albans he organised charity gigs for the street children he met out there
