TRAMPOLINING: A ST ALBANS School enjoyed considerable success at the recent Eastern Regional Round of the Schools National Tramploine Competition. Roundwood Park entered squads in the U13, U15 and U19 novice competitions taking on rivals from Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridge. The prize for qualification in the top two teams and top three individuals would be a next round entrance in the Zonal stage at Sports Wales National Centre in Cardiff in late January.

The first results (U15) brought an individual win and a Regional Champion from the outstanding Emily Kennedy as well as strong performances from the team to take them through as the highest overall scorers. In the U19’s, Emily Lloyd took individual third and led her group to second team position and qualification.

The day was crowned beautifully by the youngsters (U13) as one group found it within them to take individual first (Trevyn Holland), second (Chloe Benson) and fourth (Lauren McKenzie), performances along with that of Lucy Elledge, which comfortably took their team to first place and qualification. The successful team and individuals now look towards Cardiff and with any luck the National finals in Birmingham this March.

Coach Pauline Moxham said: “It is always a tough competition and the girls had worked very hard to prepare. I’m very proud of the team and individual success. Hopefully we can repeat it at the Zonal stage then onto the National finals.”

Under 13 individual winner Trevyn Holland said: “I thought we would do well as a team but I didn’t expect to come first. On the day my performance was fault free. I hope I can put in the same performance in Cardiff.”
