Six City youngsters selected for Amateur Football Alliance (AFA) U18s
THE next generation of Saints got their season off to a flier last week with a 6-0 win over Hanwell Town with six of the squad then selected in the Amateur Football Alliance U18s representative squad.
The Midweek Youth team began their campaign in style, with first team boss David Howell in attendance, thanks to goals from Matt Taylor, Elliott Bailey (two), Laurence Wroe and Tremayne Charles (two).
The four goalscorers all had double reason to cheer as they were named in the AFA squad where they will be joined by fellow Saints Joe Zazzera and James Shaw, a remarkable achievement with five of the six selected still only 16.
The AFA is a County Football Association, affiliated to the Football Association and whilst the majority of their clubs are in London and the Home Counties, they have member clubs throughout England. Their fixtures start against the Surrey FA on Sunday, September 25, at Redhill followed by matches against the Middlesex FA, Sussex FA, Royal Navy, Kent FA and Norfolk FA in the FA County Youth Cup.
