HARPENDEN Bowling Club’s ladies beat Hatfield BC 63-49. The top rink was Dena Roberts, Val Thomson, Val Christiaans and Pauline Taylor.
The men were just as successful, beating Dunstable in triples 112-63. The top Rink was John Millins, John Allwright and Jack Blissett.
The Crimson team’s National Top Club game against Shire Park came down to the final bowl of the game, with the Harpenden getting the three shots needed to win. The team will play Hatfield in the next round.
Berkhamsted BC’s mixed team beat Harpenden’s by 110-63. Harpenden’s top rink was Doug Knowles, Beryl Driscoll, Trevor Clark and Janet Hubball.
The team of Tom Muir, Simon Burgess, Jan Holland and Lesley Tutt won their first game in the National Mixed Fours against a team from Bushey.
