St Peter's 2 Letchworth Garden City Eagles 1
ST Peter's recorded their second successive victory when overcoming league newcomers Letchworth Garden City Eagles at Lemsford on Saturday.
Manager Mitch Morris had to shuffle his pack with several players missing again resulting in major changes to the midfield and the forward line.
Craig Chapman led a fine defensive display with good support from Martin Canaway and brothers Matt and Tony Gauthier.
Goalkeeper Colin Pigott had to make some saves early on as the Eagles flew forward and they were eventually rewarded when they swooped to open the scoring on 15 minutes.
The Saints soon settled and equalised on the half-hour mark. Midfielder Stuart Henderson surged into the penalty box before placing his shot wide of the goalkeeper and into the net.
After the break it was the Saints who dictated matters but new attacking duo John Thompson and Marlon Jones were unable to convert the numerous chances that went their way.
The forwards were spared any misery as Scott Ferguson beat the offside trap and fired home the winner for Saints.
On Saturday Saints make the trip to Croxley Guild. Kick off is 3pm.
