Greenwood Park 112-4 beat Monken Hadley 111 by six wickets

GREENWOOD Park ended their four week tour of Herts with a trip to Monken Hadley in an attempt to get the season back on track.

Having won the toss Park elected to field and this decision was soon vindicated with Stevens picking up a couple of quick wickets. The effect of this was to spur his bowling partner on. Atkins soon got into the act and ripped through the middle order of the batting side.

Having reduced Monken Hadley to 27-7, Park were eyeing a quick end to the innings however the remaining opening bat had been joined by the skipper and they set about accumulating a total. Park used different combinations of bowlers, all fairly economical but it was the return of Stevens and Atkins, who finished with career best figures of 6-22, that succeeded.

When the last wicket fell to the guile of Nash the home side had managed a total of 111.

Openers Baker and Eyre set about chasing down the total and quickly advanced to 30 before Eyre fell bringing Mahbubul to the crease.

He started building an innings and was joined by Smith and then Gloudemans (19*). With Park nearing the winning mark and Mahbubul eyeing his 50 he was clean bowled just four runs short.

This left Gloudemans to hit the winning runs and guide Park to a much needed win.
