Lucy Williams faces a long wait to see whether she has made the cut for the third round of the Ricoh Women’s British Open.
The Mid Herts Golf Club pro was called up as a first reserve 15 minutes before the start of the tournament and proceeded to shoot an opening round of 76 (+4).
Teeing off at 7.25am this morning, the 24-year-old followed up with a round of 77 (+5) to finish nine over par. With the cut expected to be around +5, Williams looks like a long shot to make the third round. The final groupings are scheduled to tee off at 3.30pm.
Still, Williams remains positive about the experience. She tweeted: “Shot +5 this morning.. had a horrific start finding every bunker possible! Gutted but had a great experience and my game is very close.”
