Mid Herts Golf Club professional Lucy Williams enjoyed a strong opening round to the Italian Open this morning.
Fresh off her first major at the US Open last weekend, the 24-year-old, who is in Perugia on the Ladies European Tour, record a 71 (-1) in the first round.
Williams dropped two shots on the first, a 503-yard par five, but picked up three birdies, on the second, fourth and sixth, to finish the front nine on even par.
She opened the back nine with a birdie and then picked up another on the par-three 12th. Willams pared the next five holes but dropped a shot on the 18th to finish the round one under par.
Williams tees off her second round at 2.33pm (Italian time) tomorrow (Saturday).
