Flamstead 161-7 (53) Old Finchleians II 105-10 (33.3)

FLAMSTEAD recorded their fourth win on the bounce as they beat Old Finchleians by 56 runs on Saturday.

Skipper Andy Taylor won the toss for the second week in succession and decided to bat first.

The decision looked to be vindicated as Taylor and David Watson put on 67 for the first wicket off 20 overs. Watson (29) fell to young off spinner Depala and four runs later Taylor (33) and Brown (0) were bowled by Jackson to leave Flamstead struggling on 71-3.

David Oswin and Mark Ridley combined for a 56 run partnership although they found scoring difficult against the spin attack. Oswin was run out for 32 but Ridley (38) ensured Flamstead posted a respectable 161-7. Jackson took 5-46 off 18 overs for OF.

Flamstead got the early breakthrough they wanted in reply as Tim Wilkinson bowled Jagani with the score on 14.

Savani (30) and Kan (20) put on a quick stand of 38 in six overs before the introduction of off-spinner Jack Smith, aged 15, halted the flow of runs.

With the score on 52-1, Wilkinson got the vital wicket of Savani who had hit a century in his previous outing thanks to a catch from wicket keeper David Oswin.

Smith got the next two wickets both bowled with good balls that turned. Club chairman Wilkinson picked up the next six wickets with three lbws, and a caught and bowled as he picked up 8-34 off 16.3 overs.

From 52-1, OFs had lost their last nine wickets for just 53 runs as they collapsed to 105 all out. Smith finished with 2-34 off 12 overs and bowled an excellent line and length.

Flamstead skipper Andy Taylor was delighted with another win which took the team up to an impressive seventh in the Division Seven table. He said: "We have played some good cricket over the past month and deserve our four consecutive wins. Our chairman bowled really well and was backed up by young Jack Smith who bowled a good tight spell from the other end. With two league games left it would be great to finish with another couple of wins."

Next week Flamstead travel to lowly Hoddesdon II who have recorded just one victory all season.
