St Albans City suffered their largest defeat of the Vanarama National League South season so far with a 6-0 trouncing away at now-third in the table Whitehawk.

The struggling Saints, who also had central defender Ben Martin sent-off in the second half, are third from bottom with 12 games played.

Striker Danny Mills put the Hawks ahead in the 16th minute and midfielder Sam Deering doubled that advantage to hand the hosts a 2-0 lead at half-time.

There was no way back for Jimmy Gray and Graham Golds’ side when ex-Stevenage and Luton Town winger David Martin added a third on 65 minutes.

Nick Arnold added a fourth just after and things were to get even worse for the away side as Martin was given his marching orders.

The home team were not finished as Stephane Ngamvoulou and Deering completed a miserable afternoon for the Saints.
