Dunstable II 160-10 (52.4) Wheathampstead 164-7 (36.3)

WHEATHAMPSTEAD recorded a vital win at home to Dunstable II in Division Three on Saturday.

Visitors Dunstable won the toss and were restricted to 160 all out off 52.4 overs.

In reply, Wheathampstead claimed victory but not without scares as they lost seven wickets on the way to scoring 164 to win off 36.3 overs.

Wheathampstead II put in a good performance, only to see a fine batting display from the Knebworth Park IV openers win the day in Division Eight.

Eamonn Keane (56), and Tim Kiek and Alex Jack both with 23, scored well. Courtney and Carter each took four wickets for KP but Wheato still managed to post 198 all out.

In reply, Adrian Lewis (0 for 23 off eight overs) contained well but perhaps Jimmy McEwan (5-1-16-2) came on too late. Carter hit 82 not out and Bonser struck 57 to give Knebworth Park the win on 199-3 off 46 overs.

The Wheathampstead Sunday XI continued their good form at home with victory against Roving Reports.

Guy Wilson lost the toss and was asked to bat first. Veteran Ian Winchester fired a well-made 24 before Wheato fell to 62-4 after 15 overs.

Mark Smith (69) joined Simon Evans (33) at the crease for an excellent partnership of 95.

After both had been dismissed, some hefty blows from Shahid (13) and Rob Alvis (12) enabled Wheathampstead to post a competitive total of 195-9 off their 40 over allocation.

In reply, Mark Smith (3-12) was aided by some fine glove work from wicket keeper Steve Booth.

Medium pacer, Rob Alvis, then had Jenkins (37) excellently stumped.

Skipper Wilson decided to introduce his left arm guile and Jake Bavister held a steepling catch at long-on off.

Dave Abrothnought's left arm pace was too hot to handle as he struck twice in one over. The stand-in skipper from New Zealand fittingly sealed victory after another fine stumping from Booth to finish with 4-6 off 2.1 overs.
