Linda Reeve and Elaine Meagher struck a mighty blow for public course golf when they won the prestigious Daily Mail Foursomes title at St Pierre’s championship old course in Chepstow this week.

Elaine and Linda, who both live in Wheathampstead and are members of Little Hay Golf Complex in Bovingdon, beat a strong pair from Ely 4&2 in the final to lift the trophy.

After the win, the ladies said: “The whole event was played in a very nice spirit. At the end we were physically and mentally exhausted but absolutely chuffed to bits. It was so unexpected because we are from a public course club and were up against some of the ‘better’ clubs.”

They added: “We were overwhelmed with the support we have had.”

Little Hay Golf Club President, Jenny Williams added her congratulations to the ladies for all they have done through the year.
