WCC II got off to a disappointing start in their Division Eight campaign. On a pitch favouring the bowlers, Clarendon won the crucial toss and openers Steve Winton (39) and Keith Martin (25) put on 61 for the first wicket. WCC then capitulated to 110 all out. The Clarendon openers rode their luck early on with Dave Tree bowling tightly, giving only 13 away from 11 overs and Guy Wilson's left-arm spin claiming the only wicket. WCC then missed chances and Clarendon won on 111-1 in 35 overs.
