AFTER a magnificent 2012 that saw three promotions at the club, Wheathampstead CC will be looking for a strong start to its 2013 campaigns.

The 1st XI have a huge opening weekend as Adam Winchester’s men welcome not only Watford Town 1st XI to Nomansland on Saturday, but then Eversholt 1st XI on Sunday in Round One of their first ever appearance in the National Village Cup.

Jimmy McEwen’s 2nd XI will be hoping for a successful season in Division Six after storming home as Champions of Division Seven in 2012. They kick off their season with a trip to Radlett 3rd XI.

Finally Richard Hodgson’s 3rd XI will also look to start with a win as they welcome Watford Town 4th XI to Kimpton in Division 13 after their promotion from Division 14 in 2012.

Alan Bates and his 4th XI will have to wait until the May 18 to kick off their season in Division 14 against Hitchin 4th XI.

WCC also sent a “huge thank you” to the Co-operative Community fund for its £2,000 grant towards the new outfield being laid at Nomansland in 2013/2014.
