Max Baggio admits topping the podium is a feeling he’ll never get bored of after the teenage speed demon added to his growing medal collection on day two of the Delancey British National Alpine Ski Championships.

The Downhill discipline proved another high-octane event in Tignes after the thrills and spills of Monday’s Super-G.

And on Tuesday, fresh from being crowned British National Super-G Champion, 19-year-old Baggio won the British National Downhill title to match – gliding across the line with a time of 1:15.89 minutes.

His taste for gold didn’t stop there, once again topping the charts in the National Junior Championships to clinch the British Under-21 crown.

“The winning feeling here so far is great, it’s good to compete against your fellow Brits and I’m happy to return to the podium,” said Baggio.

“In the training I felt like I got a good feel for the course, and was able to put it into the race. I hadn’t done much Downhill this season, I don’t get much opportunity to train it but when I do it’s always fun.

“My last training camp’s been quite long, and I’ve done a lot of training, so it’s definitely proved good preparation.”

And now with Baggio’s favoured events – the Slalom and Giant Slalom – up next, he may need to find a bigger suitcase to stow away all his medals before the Championships are over.

“I’ve definitely psyched for the tech events, I mostly train tech so I’m looking forward to it and we’ll see what I can do there,” added Baggio.

“It’s been an awesome Championships so far, the weather on the first day was a bit off but the facilities, set up has all been good so hopefully that will continue.”
