St Albans Hockey Club men’s 1st team went top of the East of England Premier league after thrashing Letchworth 8-1 at Oaklands on Saturday.
With just two games left this season, the Tangerines take on second position Old Loughtonians on Saturday in a crucial game which could decide which team wins the league.
The men’s 5ths won 4-1 against Stevenage while the 6ths played St Albans 7ths and won 5-1.
The Praetorians beat Tring Supervets 6-2 and the Centurions won 3-2 against Hampstead and Westminster.
The ladies 1st team drew 1-1 with Chelmsford after Adele Summons scored for the Saints and the ladies 2nds won 3-1 against Norwich City with goals from Fiona Mulder, Natasha Humphris and Zoe Cole.
The ladies 5th team also secured three points after beating Shefford and Sandy 2-0.
