HARPENDEN Rovers Vets retained the Mid Herts Vets league title on Sunday with a 4-1 victory away to Shephall Old Boys.

Harpenden needed to win by at least two clear goals to overtake MBDA on goal difference. The match started tensely but Rovers pretty quickly settled into a rhythm and scored three goals in fifteen first half minutes to be leading 3-0 at half time. The second half saw them extend their lead to 4-0 before a late penalty to the home team closed the gap slightly.

Although Shephall did have a couple more scoring chances, great keeping by man of the match Paul Greene kept them at bay to retain the title.
