Verulam ReallyMoving’s Michael Parry won the junior category in the national Hoops three-day stage race at Milton Keynes.
Racing over four stages in total, including an individual time trial this year, Parry kept himself within the leading pack in both of the road race events on the first two days and minimised his time losses in the eight-mile time trial to go into the final day well in contention.
Parry said: “We had a fast start in stage four, with me putting in a few attacks to regain the time lost in the TT.
“There was a strong headwind along the main road, with the big teams quickly bringing back back every attack, but on the final lap I positioned myself up towards the front of the peloton ready for the bunch sprint.
“And although I got boxed in early on, space opened up after others went too soon on the climb to the finish and I was able to move up to 12th place, sealing my position as first junior overall.”
