Two of the Verulam Reallymoving cycling squad took off for warmer climes as they tackled the four-stage Tour of Malta.
Rachel and Steve Dunn had to face a strong field but after four days of great racing, Steve was 11th and Rachel 12th overall.
Rachel said: “What a great event. I got my best result of the tour with seventh on stage three which was a flat 43km road race on a closed bypass.
“The wind meant a hard slog one way and a fast and furious dash back the other way.
“The final stage was the longest so far with a big climb. I lost touch with the leaders at the end of lap one and ended up 12th but Steve managed to win the bunch sprint for ninth.”
Back on home roads Jared Millar was third in his age category at the LVRC GS Vecchi Le Col series race and there were more points for VRM as Matt Pumo took seventh.
Rob Flynn had a strong ride too while Stan Nwaka made his road race debut.
Elsewhere in the LVRC Percy Stallard Road Race, Paul Caton was seventh.
