VERULAM and City of St Albans Swimming Club have begun discussions on greater co-operation.
Both clubs already compete as one team under the highly successful St Albans Masters banner and together they have in excess of 400 swimmers training regularly in St Albans.
Discussions are in their early stages, and the two clubs are looking to capitalise on the ASA recognised Swim21 'teaching' tatus of Verulam with the competitive position of CoStA, which rates as one of the top ranking clubs in Hertfordshire.
David Lightowler, the newly appointed Chairman of CoStA, is confident that with greater co-operation, the clubs will be able to accommodate the aspirations of all swimmers. Sue Smith, Chairman of Verulam is equally enthusiastic about the merits of the clubs co-operating more fully. By building on the financial strengths of both clubs, the high standards that they have achieved can be further enhanced through sharing training facilities and teaching arrangements.
Both clubs have a base at Westminster Lodge. For further information see the website www.costaasc.org.uk and for information on St Albans Masters see www.stamsc.co.uk
