Verulamians U14 side kept up its 100 per cent record in Herts Middlesex League Division Six with a hard-fought 24-14 win away at second-placed Datchworth.

Vees started well and Joe Hensman ran in a try on the left wing from the half-way line after three minutes, with Lewis Casey adding the conversion from under the posts. A forward drive through the middle resulted in the second try, Adam Wills off-loading superbly when tackled just short of the line, and Jacques Hladkyj driving over to score. Lewis Casey added the extras to make it 14-0.

Two tries in the corner down the right-wing from Ben Meyrick made it 24-0 at half-time and secured the bonus point.

The second half promised more tries for Vees, and they came close to scoring on a number of occasions with three further tries disallowed. In the end, the only points in the second half came late from two breakaway tries from Datchworth.
