St Albans City’s summer of change shows no sign of slowing up – with two new signings announced and four players extending their stay.

Josh Hill has moved from Boreham Wood while Rhys Hoenes arrives from Royston Town.

It takes manager Ian Allinson’s signing spree to seven.

Centre-half Hill becomes the latest to renew links with his former Boreham Wood boss.

Winger Hoenes adds a new dimension to the City attack, one which Allinson says the team has been lacking.

He said: “His pace is frightening and it’s an element which we lacked last season.

“We’ve been following his progress for a while and we know he had more than a few options on offer to him for next season but we’re delighted he chose to come to St Albans City.

“We’re adding some real quality to the side now and looking to build towards a bright future for the club.”

The pair join Ian Rees (Biggleswade Town), Shaun Lucien (Wealdstone), James Russell (Boreham Wood), Ben Nunn (Hemel Hempstead Town) and Sam Merson (Redditch United).

City have also announced that four of last year’s team have agreed to stay on for another season.

Ben Martin, Darren Locke, Scott Thomas and Billy Gibson will all remain at Clarence Park.

Locke said: “Everyone knows I love the club so it was going to be a matter of ‘when’ not ‘if’ I signed the new deal.

“You can see the squad taking shape and it’s great that I get to be a part of that once again.”

One of last year’s squad though has announced his arrival at a Vanarama National League South rival.

Goalkeeper Joe Welch, who was released last month, has joined Chelmsford City.
