A GROUP of rugby players from Old Albanians enjoyed a game of tag rugby on the hallowed turf of Twickenham during Saturday’s London Double Header event.

Two of the club’s U9s teams had taken part in the London Festival of Rugby on Saturday morning in nearby Old Deer Park, Richmond. This was the sixth year of this popular festival – 1,100 U8s and U9s from across the country took part. The reward for winning the festival was the opportunity to play an exhibition tag match on the hallowed turf of Twickenham itself during half-time of one of the Aviva Premiership games.

Old Albanians’ first team played against Tadley Tigers, Wasps, Worthing, Sidcup and Cheshunt, winning four matches and drawing one. The second team played Old Elthamians, Brussels School, Bognor Regis and Hitchin, winning all their matches with both OAs’ sides making it throught to appear at Twickenham.

The boys thoroughly enjoyed their moment in front of a 75,000 crowd, and have a memory that they will treasure for a long time.
