TOWNSEND enjoyed an extremely successful week highlighting the quality of bowls played at the club.

A 3-0 win in the English Wills Trophy was followed up by a 57.5-22.5 District League victory against the previously unbeaten Hemel Hempstead club.

Townsend then began the defence of their London & Southern Counties Shield with a 4-0 victory 102 shots to 62 against a strong Iver Heath side, who they also beat in the first round last year. This was followed by a 5-0 victory over local rivals Harperbury on Sunday morning in the Club Top 11 and then a 49 shots to 24 victory over Potten End in the EBA 2 fours.

After the giddy heights of the club competition the members revert to individual competition in the St Albans District and County competitions. There will be some excellent viewing on offer from Wednesday, June 4 through to Friday, June 6 and spectators are welcome to enjoy a drink and view some bowls in the comfort of a fine clubhouse at Waverley Road, St Albans.
