St Albans Striders’ women won the team prize on home turf at the Hertfordshire County Cross Country Championships in the 8,000m race.

The team was made up of Claire Hallissey (3rd), Wendy Webster (9th), Wendy Walsh (10th), and Deborah Steer (12th). The Striders women’s B team, made up of Elaine Garvican (17th place), Zoe Lowe (21st), Lucy Martin (28th) and Johanna Sharples (30th), also made it into third place for the teams.

In the men’s 12,000m race, triders were the second team to finish with Tom Crouch in seventh place, followed by Paul Adams (11th), Graham Smith (19th), Adam Dunajko (23rd), Simon Fraser (24th) and George Withers (40th).

At Saturday’s Parkrun, Stephen Buckle finished first in a time of 17:04 followed closely by Adam Dunajko in 17:07. Jenny Maddocks was the first woman to finish the 5K race in 20:18.
