Striders’ men finished in the top 20 at the Southern Cross Country 5km relay championships, held at Wormwood Scrubs on Saturday.

The four-man team, consisting Gary Warren, Joe Dunn, Craig Dowie and Graham Smith, placed 17th in a field of around 40 of the top clubs from the South of England.

Graham Smith also raced on Sunday and came second in the Frieth Hilly 10k in Bucks in 38mins 33secs, while, in the Flamstead 10k, Steve Buckle was the race winner in 35:29 followed in by Jeff Dawson (16th) and Paul Sowter (19th). Ruth Upjohn was the first Strider female, finishing 28th overall in 48:27.

In the Great Birmingham half marathon, Stuart Middleton finished in 1hr 39mins, ahead of Ian Hirth (1:40 PB). In the Milton Keynes Chicks and Chaps 10k Chase, Charlotte Holloway finished sixth female.

In the Amsterdam Marathon, Striders Howard Bull and Kathryn Hall finished in 4:03 and 4:53 respectively. At Abingdon Marathon Striders’ finishers were Andrew McKillop (3hrs 21mins), Marcus Hooper (3hrs 22mins) and Emma Leahy (4hrs 34mins) and in the Chelmsford Parks Trail Marathon Jack Brooks crossed the line in 4hrs 8mins.
