ST Albans saw their title bid take a knock as they lost at Hitchin in Division One on Saturday.

Hitchin won the toss and after choosing to bat first, scored 207-8 off their 53 overs. Jamie Shaw picked up four wickets for the Saints and Martin Jones claimed two, with Jimmy Goodwin and Yasir Arafat each taking one wicket.

In reply, Ed Hart scored 59 before he was caught and number seven Jimmy Goodwin hit 71 but the Saints were all out for 172.

St Albans IV won by six wickets at Boxmoor II in Division 10. Boxmoor scored 155-8 in their 53 overs, Simon Marriott claiming 3-19 off 11 overs.

The total was duly eclipsed in the 38th over for the loss of four wickets. A solid foundation was laid by openers George Boddy (61) and Graham Budd (42).
