Younger bowlers scoop prizes at County AGM.

CRICKET: TWO young cricketers from Herts Advertiser country were rewarded for the performances in 2011 at last week’s Hertfordshire County Cricket Association’s AGM.

St Albans Cricket Club’s Stanley Tinkler was named Herts U13s’ Bowler of the Year while George Garrett of Harpenden Cricket Club was the U11s’ Bowler of the Year.

Nick Gilbert was elected to the position of chairman following Alistair Buchanan’s retirement. Mr Buchanan, who spent 19 years as chairman, was elected as an honorary life member in recognition of his more than 40 years of service with the association.

In other changes, Mark Everett has been appointed by the board of Hertfordshire County Cricket Club to succeed Mr Gilbert as chief executive while Iain Fletcher has been appointed as team manager for the Minor Counties XI.
