Shane Farnon and Habib Younis’ 141 run partnership condemned St Albans to defeat on Saturday against Holtwhite Trinibis and set them further adrift at the foot of Saracens Herts Division Two A.
Top performances: Younis 95, 6-31
Top performances: Capaldi 53, Tyler 4-30
Holtwhite won by 82 runs
Both batsmen were dropped early in their innings and went on to punish St Albans. Farnon scored a 90-ball 68 before he was caught by Sandipan Chanda off Max Capaldi while Younis fell five short of his century after picking out Dan Rosson in the deep.
Despite limiting the rest of the order, the third wicket stand took the game away from St Albans, who are 86 points from safety with seven games remaining.
St Albans’ batting line-up had few highlights as Younis tore through it, taking six wickets for 31 runs. His pace saw Chanda edge to slip, Robert Goddard leave for one, Matt Howeson beaten by sharp movement and Phil Caley and Mark Telkman caught behind to leave Saints at 71-7.
Late resistance from Jacob Winfield (11) and Rosson (13) allowed a first 50 for Capaldi before Adnam Choudary ended the innings with three wickets.
