EAGLE-EYED St Albans City fans will have noticed a Norwegian flag hung behind the goal at City's recent games with Bath City and Welling United.

The flag is owned by Jrn Aarsland, Jrn Olkuam and Per Christian Wolden who make up the Norwegian branch of the St Albans City Supporters Club.

The trio have followed English football back home for a long time and have been coming over to support the Saints for the past three seasons but why St Albans I hear you ask?

Jrn Aarsland takes up the story: "I actually have a football store back in Norway, selling shirts and we've always followed English football since the late Sixties back in Norway. So we've always been interested in English football and we try and find another sort of club that has some history and from another division that not everybody else is following.

"Everybody is supporting Manchester United, Arsenal, Spurs and West Ham so we were thinking of St Albans and the town is excellent."

The two Jrns and Per, pictured above, fly over from Norway three or four times a season to take in City games though they don't seem to bring the team much luck.

"We've been to twelve games and we've only seen them win once," laughs Jrn.

This trip has been no different after seeing the Saints defeated 1-0 at Bath and 3-2 at home to Welling United.

"The game was over in 40 seconds and that punctured the game for us," says Jrn of the Bath game.

"I thought we were going to win tonight [against Welling]. It was 2-2 and I thought we were going to win the game."

Per says that each time the group visit, they enjoy the experience more and more.

"It's getting better all the time as we're getting to meet more people. This was the first away game [Bath], we stayed there for one night and it was nice. We should have stayed there longer instead of going to London like we always do!"

The trio are already planning their next trip with Jrn suggesting that March is looking favourable.

"We might come back in March I guess because there are two home matches in March, one on the Saturday and one on the Tuesday."

However before they can come over they have to get permission first as Per explains: "We'll have to ask the wives first!
