HARPENDEN-based Team Plowman Craven were selected once again to compete in the televised 2008 Tour of Britain.

Only three elite British teams were picked, plus the Great Britain squad.

This famous and prestigious annual race for professional cyclists, consisted of 96 riders, who gathered in the heart of London at the Victoria Embankment on Sunday, September 7.

Team Plowman Craven bravely negotiated the British lanes and carriageways as they took on a top-class international field. The eight-day race covered more than 750 gruelling miles, and finished in Liverpool on Sunday.

The cyclists from Hertfordshire competed against famous Olympic names, such as Bradley Wiggins and Geraint Thomas and they also fought against international teams including- Tour de France's Team Colombia and Garmin-Chipotle.

Simon Richardson, Plowman's youngest rider took 17th place overall, two minutes and five seconds behind winner Geoffroy Lequatre.

The Harpenden-based cycling team is funded by measurement experts, Plowman Craven.
