CHESS: Harpenden Junior Chess Club (HJCC) now has a county junior champion - Taran Jina, who won the Hertfordshire U11 chess championship.
Taran, pictured above, has been coached from beginner to county champion at the club which now has eight junior players who have represented Hertfordshire at junior county level.
HJCC has players from beginner through to county standard and meets at the 3rd Harpenden Scout Hut, Southdown Road on Saturdays from 12-1pm. Coaching is provided by an English Chess Federation accredited coach. For more details, call Jon Freeman on 01582 621927 or email jontrudy@yahoo.co.uk
