London Three North West

Finchley 0 Tabard 53

SCOTT Stoba was the star of the show, scoring three tries as Tabard moved to their biggest victory of the season against Finchley on Saturday.

Finchley have been blighted by injuries this year and had no answer to Tabard's controlled rugby.

Tabard were quickly into the game and an early line out saw Tabard drive the ball over the line for Stoba to claim his first try. Then Tabard received a setback when flanker Cam O'Connor was yellow carded for retaliating when he was bitten on the ear. However, this only served to spur Tabard on and the ball was quickly re-cycled after a good break from centre Joe Cunningham to enable stand off Jack Reilly to feed full back Dan Ashcroft for the try.

Cunningham quickly followed with a try of his own when he burst through the cover defence and this time Reilly slotted the conversion over to put Tabard 17 points clear. This was soon extended when second row Brad Montague went over after a break by scrum half Andy Murphy, with Reilly again adding the conversion. Just before half time, Stoba got his second try after he carried on a break by Reilly who added the conversion to put Tabard 31-0 ahead at half time.

In the second half the points did not come so freely and it was 15 minutes into the half before the first score came. This time Tabard turned over Finchley ball and second row Josh Sio was on hand to sprint in from 30 metres.

This try was quickly followed by Stoba's third. Tabard drove from well-taken line out ball and as the drive faltered, Stoba forced his way over for the try. Another line out drive brought Tabard's next try, this time prop James Collette touched down for the score.

Virtually on full time Tabard's final score came when O'Connor ran a short penalty to score under the posts, giving Reilly an easy conversion and Tabard a 53-0 victory.
